Welcome to The Crane Centre

The mission of The Crane Centre is to provide Uganda's youth with job skills, training and career development opportunities in order to foster independence, leadership and a vision for their future. The Crane Centre is based on a foundation of faith in Christ.

The Crane Centre offers opportunities for growth and exploration in the Hospitality Industry. The current 11 month program offers 9 months on our campus and an additional two month work/study program at one of several local hotels. The program includes many areas of food service, including food preparation, computer training, life skills and traditional arts and crafts. When our building (ground level) is completed we will offer a two year curriculum with a degree given upon completion.

Story-01 Story-02

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,... "plans to give you hope and a future" Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV). God’s plans for His beloved children in Uganda were in place before Sandra Crane ever dreamed of “planting the seeds” to start a school in Africa.

The national bird and symbol of Uganda is the Crested Crane, which only affirmed God’s will was at work through Sandra’s vision.

The Crane Centre

Sandra Crane, founder of The Crane Centre, had traveled to Uganda for several years with a mission group. During her visit in 2005, she felt the call to purchase property in the Mbarara area (Mbarara is the third largest town in Uganda). She conceived the idea of building a small guest house that would raise funds to create a campus where students would learn the hospitality industry.

The Crane Centre, a Michigan Not For Profit Corporation 501 c (3) is striving to complete this career training center for Uganda’s deserving young men and women.

Construction work is continuing and the 8" concrete slab roof was completed in 2016. Classes are being held in the completed Educational Wing and lower level classrooms. We have space for 10 students currently and will be able to educate many more students when the ground floor is completed.

Please prayerfully consider God's plans for you in connection with this awe-inspiring project. Contact sandra@thecranecenter.org
